ABOUT US
Founder. Sumeira Jackson. My Story.
As a health conscious drink enthusiast, I have always paid attention to what I drink, forever looking at the sugar content of a cocktail, or a particular wine or spirit. I'm a big fan of any drink options that are ‘zero dosage’. Why? For me to avoid that glucose spike means I can manage my workouts and also my perimenopause symptoms. Whether it’s going for a run, yoga class or strength training, having a clean and natural drink option the night before makes all the difference. This means my body is not over working to metabolise unnecessary sugars and additives.
Also, something had to match the healthy food I was eating (well 85% of the time). After years of boring my friends to death about the macros in certain drinks and the new ‘no sugar’ options, especially in the wine industry, as well as natural or biodynamic farmed wines, my experiences led me to consider gin as being a healthier alternative.
This is why I wanted to make a gin with all this in mind, making the ‘macros’ and ‘the perfect serve’ the main event, alongside focusing on the botanicals used. Something so smooth and silky, all you would need is some sparking water to taste the true essence of the gin. Clean. Warm. Earthy.
I'm an Indian girl born and bred in Edinburgh, I was based in London after Art School. My career in E-commerce started after launching ASOS as a founding member in 2000. Coming back to Scotland, into a new industry as an outsider has been an experience. Traditionally gin producers are steeped in cultural history with a strong sense of belonging. Being the first brown girl to make gin in Scotland, creating Gin for Good, means more.
I’ve always felt a need to connect, to be part of Scottish culture and history, to experience that sense of belonging, so I can say I’m from here too! By creating Gin for Good - picking, smelling and tasting the botanicals from the grounds of the distillery, this was my way of connecting with Scotland. Spending time on the land was precious, but more importantly it gave me a feeling of acceptance. It left me with a clear vision of the kind of gin I wanted to make. Clean. Honest. Earthy. Natural. All inclusive!!
I hope you enjoy Gin for Good, and creating the prefect G and G!
